The San Juan Island dream is not limited  to waterfront homes. On San Juan's Mt. Dallas, or Sunset Mountain on Orcas island, you can look down on the marine environment, little bays, islands, green pastures from an elevation of nearly 1,000 feet.

 For those that want pasture surrounding them, large and small acreage pieces are still available. Residents here keep many horses, cattle, lamas, alpacas, and sheep as the spirit of the islands in years past is still alive. Splendid, "top of the mountain" view parcels can still be purchased for under $200,000.00.

For the most part, the waterfront availabilities are either upscale new homes or charming older cabins and structures begging for a re-model. Few waterfront parcels remain un-built but there are advantages to buying an established structure with it's usually shorter setback from the water and established building footprint!
